How Do I Find RTMP Stream Settings For Popular Providers?

TokBird Live’s simulcasting feature allows customers to send their stream to Livestream, which then distributes it to different streaming providers. Below you will find instructions on how to find RTMP information for popular providers as well as links to each provider’s bitrate requirements.

In order to use this feature, you will need the RTMP URL and Stream Key from the provider you wish to stream to. Below is a guide on where you can find this information for some of the popular providers that accept RTMP.

Vimeo

To stream live to Vimeo, you must have a live-enabled membership.

If you do, go to your homepage and select Create Live Event.

You can create either a one-time or recurring event on Vimeo. Once your event is created and configured, select Next on the top right corner of the page.

This will take you to the live preview page, which will default to the Webcam view. Select the Connect (RTMP) tab to get your RTMP URL and Stream Key.

YouTube

To find your RTMP information for YouTube, log into your YouTube account then navigate to CREATE > Go live. 

You will then see the following screen:

You will need to COPY the Stream URL and Stream Key information into TokBird Live.

Facebook

You can set up a live video post in the left-hand column of Live Producer.

  1. Go to Live Producer at facebook.com/live/producer
  2. Select whether you would like to Go Live Now or Schedule a Live Video for a future time and date.
  3. Select Share to a Page You Manage from the first dropdown menu.
  4. Choose the Page you would like to stream to from the second dropdown menu.
  5. Add a Title and Description to your post. Here you can also tag friends, check in to a location, add a feeling or activity.
  6. Choose which Pages (if any) to which you would like to crosspost the live broadcast. Learn more about crossposting.
  7. Select Audience Settings to define Age Restrictions and Geographic Gating. For a specific broadcast, you can restrict the age of the audience under the Minimum Age drop-down. You can restrict or geo-gate your broadcast to specific locations by selecting Allow selected locations. Here you can search and add locations (country, state, city, etc.) to include.

Twitch

The RTMP URL for Twitch can vary depending on your location, as they have multiple ingest servers around the world.

Twitch provides a list of RTMP URLs based on location HERE. Choose the RTMP URL that reflects the closest geographical location to where you are streaming from. Paste it into Livestream’s RTMP URL field under SimulcastMake sure you do not include the {stream key} they show in the sample URL.

Next, you will need to find your stream key. Log in to your Twitch account and navigate to the Creator Dashboard.

Under the hamburger menu, navigate to Preferences > Channel. Your stream key will be at the top of the page. Copy it to your clipboard and paste it into the Stream Key field in Livestream’s Simulcast menu.

Periscope

To get your RTMP credentials for Periscope, you will need to install the Periscope App on your iOS or Android device.

In the Periscope app, navigate to your profile then scroll down and select Settings.

Under Advanced Sources, select Periscope Producer.

A Server URL and Stream Key will generate. Enter these into the RTMP URL and Stream Key fields in Livestream.
